TINES® TRAM

The TINES® TRAM Integrated Tram-Road Pavement System was developed for projects requiring durable, functional and aesthetically refined solutions that meet the needs of modern urban infrastructure. The system ensures a high level of user comfort, reduced noise and vibration, operational safety and long-term structural durability, while maintaining the high architectural and urban design quality of public spaces.

System description

The TINES® TRAM Integrated Tram-Road Track Surface System was developed for modern urban infrastructure, where durability, safety and user comfort are of key importance. The ballastless technology, based on TINES® TRAM LC-L prefabricated reinforced concrete track slabs and the TINES® TRAM ERS resilient rail fastening system, enables the construction of a stable and durable tram track with high resistance to dynamic loads and intensive operation. The system provides continuous resilient rail support, reducing the transmission of vibration and noise to the surrounding environment, which is particularly important in densely built-up urban areas. The sealed rail installation and properly designed drainage system effectively protect the structure against water and weather conditions, extending the service life of the entire track system. The use of prefabricated components significantly reduces project completion time and minimises traffic disruption during installation works. The system can be individually adapted to the technical parameters of a given project, track geometry, type of surface and design requirements. This allows it to be used both in conventional urban tram tracks and in public spaces with particularly high aesthetic and functional requirements.

System Applications

The TINES® TRAM Integrated Tram-Road Track Surface System is designed for modern tram infrastructure projects requiring a durable, aesthetically pleasing and integrated tram-road track surface. The system is intended primarily for:

  • tram tracks shared with the roadway,
  • tram-road crossings,
  • pedestrian crossings and areas with high levels of urban traffic,
  • bus lanes and routes with restricted traffic access,
  • city centres and densely built-up areas,
  • areas requiring reduced noise and vibration, including so-called “quiet zones”,
  • tram track modernisation projects and new tram lines,
  • areas with high aesthetic and urban design requirements.

Thanks to the possibility of adapting the slab geometry to individual project requirements, the system can be used on straight sections, curves, tram turnouts and in special areas requiring non-standard structural solutions. Its prefabricated design enables efficient project implementation while reducing disruption to urban traffic.

System Advantages

  • High structural durability – the system has been designed for intensive operation in urban conditions. The use of precast reinforced concrete slabs with high strength parameters ensures resistance to dynamic loads, tram traffic and wheeled vehicle traffic.
  • Reduction of vibration and noise – the resilient fastening of rails in an elastomeric encapsulation effectively reduces the transmission of vibration and noise emissions to the surrounding environment. This solution improves residents’ comfort and limits the impact of tram infrastructure on adjacent buildings.
  • Sealing and structural protection – the sealed connection between the rail and the pavement limits water penetration into the tram track and roadway structure, significantly reducing the risk of material degradation and extending the service life of the entire system.
  • Effective tram track drainage – appropriately profiled precast slabs enable the efficient drainage of rainwater, increasing pavement durability and operational safety.
  • Quick installation and shorter project completion time – the system’s precast components reduce the scope of work carried out on site, shortening project completion time and minimising disruption to urban traffic.
  • Track geometry stability – the system maintains the required track gauge, rail inclination and structural stability throughout its service life, enhancing the safety and comfort of tram traffic.
  • Resistance to weather conditions and corrosion – the materials used are highly resistant to temperature fluctuations, moisture, de-icing agents and other environmental factors present in urban areas.
  • Protection against stray currents – the system provides effective electrical insulation of the tram track, limiting the adverse effects of stray currents on technical infrastructure and components located near the track.
  • Individual adaptation – each solution is designed individually, taking into account track geometry, the road layout, the investor’s requirements, and local technical and urban planning conditions.
  • Aesthetics and integration with the urban environment – the system enables the construction of a modern and aesthetically pleasing pavement integrated with the road layout and public space, improving the functionality and appearance of urban infrastructure.
