System description

The TINES® TRAM EKO SLAB Integrated Tram–Grass Track System is a ballastless track system designed for grass-covered tram tracks. This innovative solution, developed on the basis of many years of experience in the manufacture of systems for segregated tram tracks and integrated tram–road track structures, enables the shared use of the track by trams and emergency vehicles while also allowing the track to be covered with vegetation, such as grass or sedum.

System components:

The system consists of two main elements:

  1. TINES® TRAM ERS rail fastening system with rail encapsulation

2.TINES® TRAM LC-L EKO SLAB precast reinforced concrete slabs.

TINES® TRAM LC-L EKO SLAB.

TINES® TRAM LC-L EKO SLAB precast reinforced concrete slabs are equipped with rail channels for the installation of the TINES® TRAM ERS system and a central recess designed for placing a layer of topsoil and vegetation (grass or sedum).

TINES® TRAM LC-L EKO SLAB slabs can be used for maximum axle loads of rail vehicles up to 135 kN and road vehicle axle loads up to 140 kN. The slabs can be applied on single-track and multi-track routes, on straight sections and horizontal curves, for track gauges of 1000 mm and 1435 mm, with 49E1, 60R1, and 60R2 rail profiles, as well as other Vignole rails and grooved rails.

System advantages:

  • continuous fastening and support of the rail foot,
  • ensuring the maintenance of the required track gauge and rail inclination,
  • elastic transfer of dynamic loads to the track structure and its surroundings,
  • effective reduction of vibrations and noise emitted into the environment by passing trams,
  • possibility of integrating vegetation into the track structure, such as grass or sedum, contributing to the “greening” of urban spaces,
  • effective drainage of water from both the rail and green track surfaces,
  • ensuring comfortable operation of rail vehicles on the track,
  • possibility of adapting the system to specific design requirements,
  • simplified system installation thanks to prefabricated elements,
  • effective electrical insulation of the track structure, protecting the track and surrounding infrastructure from the adverse effects of stray currents,
  • high resistance to temperature fluctuations, changing weather conditions, and corrosion,
  • long service life and durability.
