TINES® EBS

The TINES® EBS Rail Embedded Block System is a ballast-less rail surface construction system. They ensure the elastic transfer of loads from rail vehicles and dampen vibrations caused by their passage. In this system, the rails are not attached to the beam sleepers but to individual concrete support blocks built into prefabricated concrete or steel sockets using the elastic filling mass TINES® Polyrail, which forms an elastic casing of the block.

System Description

The ballast-less surface system with the TINES® EBS system can be used on metro lines in straight sections, in curves, and under turnouts. In this system, track connections—turnouts and crossings—can also be made, and it can be used with all Vignole rail profiles and special rails.

This structural solution is intended for use on sections where it is important to reduce vibrations caused by the movement of metro vehicles.

The choice of variant and type of rail block support of the TINES® EBS system for specific rail surface construction solutions should be in accordance with the technical design.

The company offers two basic types:

  • TINES® EBS: rail block supports in casing intended for use on track surfaces

  • TINES® EBS-R – rail block supports in casing intended for use in turnouts and track intersections

The version dedicated to the metro of the rail block that supports TINES® EBS is the LRversion (Light Rail): rail block support TINES® EBS-LR is used for maximum axle pressures up to 160 kN and train speeds V ≤ 140 km/h.

The rail block support in casing TINES® EBS consists of:

  • the socket of the support block, which is a concrete or steel prefabricate,
  • elastic vibration-insulating pad,
  • prefabricated concrete support block,
  • priming coating,
  • elastic casing of the support block,
  • elastic rail fastening system

Advantages of the TINES® EBS system:

  • effective damping of vibrations and the ability to adjust damping properties to the needs of a given project,
  • effective electrical insulation of the rails,
  • easy access to rails and fasteners,
  • simple track assembly,
  • moisture, low temperature, and corrosion resistance of the support connection to the substructure,
  • full prefabrication,
  • low operating costs,
