TINES® EBS

The TINES® EBS Embedded Block System is a ballast-free rail surface construction system. It ensures elastic load transfer from rail vehicles and dampens vibrations caused by their passage. In the TINES® EBS system, rails are not attached to beam sleepers, but to individual concrete support blocks built into prefabricated concrete or steel sockets, using the elastic TINES® Polyrail pouring compound, which forms an elastic sheath of the block.

System description

The ballast-free surface system with the TINES® EBS system can be used for tracks with a width of: 1435mm or 1520mm, on straight sections and in arcs with a minimum radius R = 160 m, a maximum cant of 180 mm, and for axle loads up to 245 kN and speeds v ≤ 250 km/h. On the block supports of the TINES® EBS system, guides or buffers can be installed and all Vignole rail profiles or special rails can be used.

This construction solution is intended for use on sections where it is important to reduce vibrations and vibrations caused by the movement of rail vehicles, on engineering structures: steel and concrete, in tunnels, on station tracks and route tracks in agglomerations.

The selection of the variant and type of rail block support of the TINES® EBS system for specific rail surface solutions should be consistent with the technical design.

The company offers two basic types:

TINES® EBS – rail block supports in a sleeve intended for use in track surfaces;


TINES® EBS-R – rail block supports in a sleeve intended for use in turnouts and track intersections.


Two variants of TINES® EBS rail block supports for railways are distinguished:

  • rail block support TINES® EBS – LR (Light Rail) used for maximum axle loads up to 160 kN and train speeds V ≤ 140 km/h
  • rail block support TINES® EBS – HR (Heavy Rail) used for maximum axle loads up to 245kN and train speeds V ≤ 250 km/h.

The rail block support in the TINES® EBS sleeve consists of:

  • the socket of the support block, which is a concrete or steel prefabricate,
  • an elastic vibration isolation pad,
  • prefabricated, concrete support block,
  • priming coat,
  • an elastic sheath of the support block,
  • an elastic rail fastening system

Advantages of the TINES® EBS system:

  • effective vibration damping and the possibility of adjusting damping properties to design assumptions,
  • resistance of the support connection to moisture, low temperatures, and corrosion,
  • simple track assembly,
  • effective electrical isolation of rails,
  • unrestricted access to rails and fastenings,
  • low construction height together with the substructure,
  • full prefabrication,
  • low operating costs,
